In order to keep your pets happy, you have to keep them well fed at all
times. You can use the animal lore skill to find out what any particular
creature likes to eat, but the skill will only tell you it's preferred food,
not everything it can or will eat. Feeding your pet any quantity of food
will give it maximum loyalty.
While the type of food doesn't matter, quantity certainly does. Feeding your
pet a stack of 4 or more food items at a time will restore its stamina.
The amount of stamina restored is calculated as follows: (number of food items
in the stack * 15) - 50. If the amount is below zero, then no stamina is
restored. So for example feeding a nightmare a stack of 10 ribs would restore
100 stamina points.
White wyrms that were tamed after publish 16 was implemented can
"eat" gold in addition to meat. Stamina is restored at: number of
gold coins - 50. If the number is below zero, then no stamina is restored.
Whether you feed your pet it's preferred food or something else it also
accepts doesn't matter - Designer Oaks confirmed that it does not make a
difference at all. Nevertheless it might be handy for you to have a point of
reference where you can find out what pets eat, so here's a list:
